Redsn0w jailbreak in its most updated version has been just released by the iPhone Dev Team. Some new features have been added to the new Redsn0w 0.9.6B2 for iOS 4.1.
Limera1n exploit from GeoHot also has been included in this. That means, it has been offered in Limera1n (pwned-DFU) mode and the windows users then can restore to custom IPSW with Pwnage tool on Mac OS X to unlock iOS 4.1. This feature has been the most interesting part in the new Redsn0w tool.
This tool has been for mainly Windows iOS 4.1 users. They have to go with the ‘just enter pwned DFU mode’ now. There has been other option which says ‘just boot tethered’, which is only for future purpose.
Pwnage tool 4.1.2 has been released sometime back to jailbreak iOS 4.1 using custom firmware, but it had been only for Mac OS. The new Reds0w has been expected to work for iOS 4.1 on iPod Touch 2G and iPhone 3G/3GS. As it has been based on Limera1n, it can unlock almost all existing iDevices like iPod Touch 4G and iPhone 4.
Since Pwnage tool has been only for Mac, the users of Windows have to obtain custom IPSW via a friend of them. The new Redsn0w has been also offered custom boot land restoring for old iDevices such as iPhone 3G, iPod Touch 2G (non MC) and iPhone 3GS (old bootrom). It also has the capability to allow users of Windows restore to the custom IPSW files using Pwnage tool for Mac OS.
The new version has been able to support iOS 4.2 betas like the previous released one. The guidelines and instructions are also similar to the previous ones like for Windows and Mac OS X users.
Just download Redsn0w 0.9.6B2 and follow the instructions which are linked separately for Windows and Mac OS X to jailbreak iOS 4.1.
